Wales 15 – 24 South Africa

Having had some time to reflect on Saturday’s loss to South Africa, I thought it was finally time to stop moping and broadcast my views on what went wrong during the game as well as share a few thoughts on how I believe Wales should move forward following this setback. Continue reading

The team to play South Africa

Okay, I’m now officially excited.  The team that will face South Africa on Saturday evening has been announced, and now I really, really cannot wait for us to battle the Boks.

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, here are the players who will do battle on Saturday: Continue reading

Just what do we do with Mike Phillips?

As I’m sure everyone has heard by now, Mike Phillips has been sacked by Bayonne after allegedly turning up to a video session under the influence of alcohol.  Mike is said to be planning to take legal action after Bayonne terminated his contract.  However, the details of whether or not our scrum half is going to get some compensation from his former French club really doesn’t concern me. Wales Squad for Autumn Internationals 2013

Following the fantastic victory for the Lions this summer, Northern Hemisphere rugby – and Welsh rugby in particular – is at a crossroads.  Despite a fantastic 41-16 victory for the Lions in which 11 Welshmen starred, Wales have singularly failed to match up to the Southern Hemisphere teams for far too long. No Quade Cooper is good news for the Lions

So, the Lions have been in camp for over a week now; and after their initial week at the Vale of Glamorgan they’ve headed over the Irish Sea to train at Carton House.  Everything appears to be going swimmingly for the Lions so far, with the players seemingly enjoying the experience and Gatland intimating how impressed he is so far with how the players are doing.  However, whilst all is well in the Lions camp, there has been quite a bit of contention surrounding the Wallabies, as Robbie Deans has selected a 25-man squad for the Lions visit that contained one particularly controversial omission – Quade Cooper. Wales – 2013 Six Nations Champions

Well, after a game like that at the weekend what is there to say?  Wales retained the Six Nations Championship in one of the very best games of rugby union I have ever seen in my entire life.  I can’t quite believe how good we were.  I’m so proud of the boys, and am now feeling very, very positive about the future of Welsh rugby. Scotland 18 – 28 Wales

So we managed a fairly comfortable victory over Scotland up in Murrayfield. We’ve now got 3 wins out of 4 in this tournament and Welsh rugby is in a much healthier state. The loss to Ireland because of a diabolical first half is now even more frustrating. If we played both halves of that game with the same skill and determination that we played with in the second half, then we’d be competing with England for a Grand Slam. Continue reading

How to beat Scotland

I can’t tell you how glad I am that the Six Nations is back this weekend.  I do not enjoy these breaks in between games and personally I’d rather they were eradicated.  The tournament loses its flow and it’s difficult for people to get really excited and we should be excited given that as the tournament starts to draw to a close there is real potential for an exciting finale. Continue reading

Team to face Scotland

The Welsh match day squad for the Scotland game has been announced. The biggest talking point is probably the selection of Sam Warburton at 7 ahead of Justin Tipuric. Below is a brief assessment of the team to face Scotland… Continue reading
